Meet Our Club CFIs

  • Yohan August, CFI, CFII

I am available for working with aviators in various stages of their journey.  My favorite area to teach is cross-country flying and I have lots of insights for staying ahead of the aircraft and reducing the stress associated with unfamiliar airspace.

I have loved aviation from my childhood and moved to the US to pursue that dream.  I have experience as a Flight Test Engineer and I am currently a PhD student conducting research contributing to efforts to reduce the General Aviation fatal accident rate.

  • Nathan Ballard, CFI, CFII, IGI, ATP, NAFI Master Flight Instructor

I began flying in 1991, enjoying flying for fun with family.  In 2020, I earned my CFI certificate and have been teaching ever since.  In 2024, I was accredited as a NAFI Master Flight Instructor. I am also the former safety officer for the club, and I host a YouTube channel focused on safer flying.

I am also known as a subject matter expert in the flight training category, having presented to dozens of conferences, webinars and podcasts. I also volunteer on the FAA Safety Team as the Lead Representative in the Atlanta FSDO, and I also work with the EAA with Ray scholarship winners and summer camp participants.

I specialize in training CFI students, and I am always happy to work with folks on refining techniques for things like crosswind landings, confidence building, and checkride prep.
