AeroVentures Flying Club at KLZU

  • Club Evolution

AeroVentures Flying Club is a non profit flying club created by aviation enthusiasts.

The mission for the club is to provide a place for pilots with safe, well-maintained aircraft and an opportunity to meet like-minded people.

The dream of AeroVentures began as early as 1977. The flying club was formally established in 2012 at Gwinnett County airport (LZU) with a 1977 Cessna 172.

Since then a Piper PA-28-151 (Cherokee Warrior) and a second Cessna 172N (Skyhawk) have been added to the fleet. In 2020, we added a newer 1997 172-R Skyhawk to the family. In July 2024, we added a 1984 Piper Archer II to our fleet.

Our Cessna Skyhawks, being the single most popular aircraft in general aviation history, make for the ideal aircraft for aviators seeking to improve skills or for shorter flights. The Cessna Skyhawk is economical, safe, and fun to fly.

Our Piper Cherokee Warrior, with 50 gallon tanks, is well-suited for long cross-country and IFR missions.

We will also be looking to replace our beloved Piper Dakota with a newer high performance aircraft in late 2024 or early 2025.

  • Who We Are

AeroVentures has members of all ages and backgrounds.

Club members range from airline/corporate pilots, commercial multi-engine pilots, CFI/Is, and general aviation pilots who just love to fly.

We encourage proficiency and safety for all of our pilots. For those pursuing IFR ratings, other club members may assist with safety pilot support.

Only AeroVentures club members are able to use club aircraft. AeroVentures is not a flight school.

  • Club Membership

Club members at Aeroventures are part of a great general aviation community at LZU. Members have access to club aircraft once checked out by a club CFI. The club also hosts regular social events, safety briefings, and allows multi-day trips.

There is a reasonable monthly dues payment to maintain membership, and aircraft usage is by the hour (wet) with rates varying by aircraft.
